Our program for three and four year-olds provides learning opportunities through freeplay-based exploration.
The day typically begins with circle time, where children take part in lively discussions with the teachers about varied topics like safety, seasons, colours, weather, families, the human body, holidays, health, and science.
Next, it’s time for free play, as children explore various facets of learning through a free art table, adult-guided art, imaginative play and dress-up, cozy reading corner, science table, puzzles and games, blocks and trains, puppet theatre, and many other fun activities. A health snack (prepared by caregivers) follows, with an emphasis on hygiene, manners, and nutrition.
From time to time, children get the opportunity to explore the world outside of our classroom through fieldtrips to such diverse places as the airport, the Maritime Museum, a fire station, and a bus wash.
2019/2020 School Year
Our 3 & 4 year old class operates 4 mornings each week, Monday to Thursday from 9:15 – 12:15.
When registering, you can indicate which mornings your child will attend (2, 3, or 4 days).
Our preschool remains committed to excellence in play-based education under the Canadian Council of Parent Participation Preschools. As of 2015/2016 we have been running as a “Parent Involvement Preschool”. There will be no mandatory duty days and a small participation requirement. However, there will be many other opportunities to be involved in the school and your child’s early education.
